Speranta

The Republic's Foundation "Speranta" for children of Republic Moldova

By Helping the children today, we create our future
Childhood Without Borders
Our foundation will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2013, 20 years of projects, activities, hopes, worries, disappointments! The country has changed, the presidents and the government have changed, only stupidity remains unchanged, stupidity that  divided our country into two parts by the River Nistru. This river is striking in its permanence, value and size! Because of this foolishness, our children use different writing, they study different academic programs and use different books, history, they get different marks. Because of this foolishness, our children changed and the difference in their mentality became obvious! And this is painful and sorrowful, because in the modern world every child is surrounded by a variety of sources, both positive and negative, which affect the still forming morality of the child.

During the past 20 years a new generation appeared. Many of those who were born at the time, have themselves become parents, and they don’t want other people to inspire hostility in their sons and daughters. They also don’t want their children to show hostility to boys and girls of their age who were born in their once-united country. To day, there is no intensive personal or daily contact between the children of our neighboring countries. In fact, our children know very little about the events and trends in the neighboring countries, about the lives of our neighbors.
   Today, we announce about the beginning of the project "Childhood  Without  Borders"

The Republican Children's Fund «Speranţa» offers friendship to the children from Moldova, Transnistria and Romania for the formation of good relationships and to educate aspiration in the children, and to develop their desire to live in peace and harmony, paying attention to the natural, historical and cultural heritage of their country! Because of the borders between the children in the States bordering the Republic of Moldova, there should not be and there can’t be obstacles for communication. Friendship can mutually enrich, unite children, expand the interests of children. Children - are the only ones in the world that matters! If we manage to unite our children today, we will be to unite our country tomorrow!

The project "Childhood without Borders" is worked out in connection with the need to strengthen the attention of the state, the society, local authorities businessmen, public organizations,  government agencies, NGOs and the mass media, organizations for rehabilitation, recreation and employment of children and young people during the holidays. We also aim to draw the attention of organizations which work to improve and activate diverse development and recreation of children. We try to help neglected children and do prophylaxis to minimize injuries and the number of children who don’t have parental control. We cooperate with organizations where are engaged in the employment of children and young people during the holidays and weekends. The program Includes the exchange of children from families of different countries and social categories or groups: families with many children, low-income families, children from children’s homes and orphanages for the organization of active holidays with the benefit to improve relationship with adults, in order to study or improve the language, and for the cohesion of our society. Joint leisure and rest on exchange bases is unique because of its advantages. This is a significant economy of money resources and the opportunity to make new friends in different cities and countries.

Summer holidays - the longest time of rest for the children. At this time the child needs to implement his motor activity, the lack of which is accumulated during the school year. The leisure should be active, creative, informative and, of course, interesting. At the same time, not every parent can give his/her child the opportunity to have this kind of holiday. This problem is intended to be resolve with the help of our social project "Childhood without borders." In the project - a program for the exchange among urban and rural school children, the organization of health centres for the children and teenagers from Moldova, Transnistria and Romania, multilateral exchange of children during the summer vacation, a kind of exchange of hospitality. Children from different families (Moldovan, Ukrainian, Russian ...) Moldova, Transnistria and Romania during the holidays swap or exchange parents. We assume that a child can spend time with another family during the holidays or at weekends. Temporary foster families should provide the child with a good accommodation and visits to several cultural, entertainment and sporting events. What is the responsibility of adults during the "exchange" of children: control and care for the child, creation of an atmosphere of security, kindness and goodwill. Carrying out simple household duties like cooking food for herself and the children, playing with the children, going out with the children for walks, trips, excursions or other activities. This children’s exchange program will allow the children to see another cities with minimal expenses, to get acquainted with the culture, traditions and interesting sights and the way of life, it will help the children to improve their language skills, expand the circle of friends.

The project also aims to develop, work out and implement the idea the help the children from children’s homes to stay at home during the vacations. We know very well that even the best institutions cannot provide children with adequate mental and psychological development, successful socialization during the transition period of growth into independent life. Many of these children rarely go somewhere; they do not anywhere, even in summer, the most important vacation of the year. They fully spend their summer in the children’s homes loitering around without anything to do and they are desperately bored. We would love to give these children the opportunity not only to relax during the vacations, and to see something they have never seen before, get a new amazing experience to make their own travel. We also know that graduates of orphanages face serious problems in creating their own families; and their children too often become orphans. Staying in another family for even a short period of time can give a child more opportunity for development, than the years he spends in an orphanage. Thanks to living in a family, a child will have an opportunity to acquire some knowledge about the diversity of social roles in the family, he can be aware of his sexual identity, and develop ideas about family customs, traditions and etiquette. Family helps to formulate not the role of an orphan, but the role of a living person with full value. A person who has his own problems, but he capable to solve them himself. The satisfaction of the needs of a child to feel useful to other people through mutual care and responsibility, can allow him to get rid of feelings of estrangement and abandonment. It can also develop a sense of belonging to a family, a sense of "home", love and affection. The most important condition for the implementation of the project – is to achieve a continuity and succession, an extension of child's communication with the host family during the vacations, and to maintain the contact after the return of the child to the orphanage.

The child will also have the opportunity to visit his host family during the vacations and weekends. The host family will provide "Mentoring" or “tutorship” - during the school year. The activities which are undertaken in the framework of the project, are not for a once-only period. We suggest the creation of a permanent service in the children's homes and orphanages; our mission is to work with the population, do the selection and  professional consultation of the host families.

Our offer also includes:

Conducting joint sporting events, photo exhibitions, drawing contests, themed quizzes, tourist trips, excursions,  discussions on youth topics, going to the theaters and cinemas, exhibitions, museums, organization of mutual exchange of children for the summer vacations (the number of children and place of rest, of course, will depend on the partners and sponsors);
The cooperation of the juridical and physical persons in order to most effectively meet the challenges to improve the social protection of the children on both sides of the Dniester;
The cooperation and collaboration of international charity institutions of, the use of the world's best practices and experience in the creation and implementation of charity programs;
The creation of a single information space, which will be dedicated to the children from Moldova, Romania and Transnistria who need assistance. The promotion of access to the information on the assistance programs for orphans through the creation of information resources at the network.

This project can become a reality in the lives of the children from Moldova, and children from the neighboring states. It can! If children's organizations, both official and non-governmental, from both banks of the Nistru could traditionally stop turning away from each other, they should also stop looking at their neighbors as potential enemies. However, not only the organization, but some of the leaders of these institutions, as well as teachers, parents, grandparents of the children!

The Fund «Speranta» suggests to understand, evaluate and appreciate the importance of our initiative and unit the efforts of children’s funds and public organizations of Moldova, Transnistria and Romania to work together in the "Partnership Fund without borders for the benefit of children." The partnership, which is aimed at giving international status of our project to develop a mechanism for the implementation of our initiative in practice for the development of friendly exchanges between the children, for the formation and development of civilized norms of organizing recreation and entertainment. We aim to assist in the education of the young generation in the spirit of mutual trust and friendship. We also appeal to the mass media to provide information support for our project. We are different - our wealth is in that, we are together -  that is our strength.
